Whether you’re planning a visit to Brisbane or you’re already here, feel free to get in touch to organise a guided birding adventure.
All day-trips are private and fully customised around you, your target species, your pace and your schedule. Depending on what you’re after, I’ll suggest an itinerary for the day to either maximise the number of species across multiple habitats, or spend the day focused on a few must-see birds.
First time in Brisbane and you’re not sure where to start? No worries, I’m happy to suggest some ideas! See below for a few examples of places we’re able to visit on a day-trip.
Rates (2026)
Half-day tour for 1-2 people is $400. (sunrise until midday).
Full-day tour for 1-2 people is $600 (sunrise until late afternoon).
For three or more people (max 6), it will be an additional $100 per person.
Good to know
All trips are private and fully customisable, for groups of up to six people.
Transport is via a comfortable 4WD vehicle (Ford Everest), with plenty of space for bags, cameras, scopes etc.

Snacks
Pick-up and drop-off from your Brisbane accommodation.
Not included:
Breakfast / Lunch / Hot drinks (please bring your own packed meals, or we can stop along the way)

Birding Locations
Mt Glorious, D’Aguilar National Park
Just 1 hour northwest of the city lies Mount Glorious and D’Aguilar National Park featuring all the stunning rainforest species such as Noisy Pitta, Regent Bowerbird, Satin Bowerbird, Paradise Riflebird, Eastern Whipbird, Rose-crowned and Wompoo Fruit Doves! The national park features well-marked walking tracks, incredible lookouts and some of the best rainforest birding north of Brisbane.
Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
Sandy Camp Wetlands Reserve is a prime birding spot in Brisbane, with freshwater lagoons, reed beds, and forested edges creating a mix of habitats. The main walking track loops around the wetlands, offering great views of birds like Comb-crested Jacanas, Spotless Crake, Forest Kingfisher, Magpie Goose, Royal Spoonbill and Osprey! Its location within an industrial estate adds an interesting dynamic. While surrounded by warehouses and infrastructure, the wetlands act as a crucial refuge in an otherwise urbanised landscape, with species occasionally turning up here that are rarely seen elsewhere in Brisbane.
Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk
The Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk is an incredible birding location, about 20-minutes southeast of Brisbane. The boardwalk is an elevated timber walkway winding through a dense mangrove forest, home to some sought after species such as Torresian Kingfisher, Mangrove Gerygone and Mangrove Honeyeater, as well as many egrets, herons, spoonbills and migratory shorebirds in the summer months. It’s an easy, flat walk, suitable for all fitness levels and can be easily combined with a visit to Sandy Camp Road Wetlands, just 5-minutes away.
Oxley Creek Common
Oxley Creek Common is a top birding spot with open grasslands, wetlands, and patches of forest along Oxley Creek. A flat walking track follows the creek, leading to lagoons that attract a variety of waterbirds. Look for Cormorants, Spoonbills, and Egrets near the water, while bush birds like Fairywrens, Honeyeaters, Finches and Cuckoos move through the trees. The area is also known for a variety of birds of prey including Kites, Falcons and Sea-Eagles. Early mornings are best for bird activity, and the open landscape offers great visibility.
Tinchi Tamba Wetlands Reserve
Tinchi Tamba Wetlands is located 19km north of Brisbane City, on the banks of the Pine River. The reserve is over 380 hectares in size and habitats consists of tidal flats, mangroves, salt-marshes, melaleuca wetlands, grasslands and open forest. With such a variety of habitats, it’s no wonder this hotspot has one of the highest number of species seen in Brisbane - 253! The wetlands have international significance as habitat for migratory shorebirds that visit during the summer months.
