We had a great day in the Brisbane area and highly recommend Rosella Adventures and Kris McBride. We we staying in Brisbane on holiday for several days and wanted to get out in nature. We are casual birdwatchers and thought that would be a great way to see something different. Kris was very organized and suggested a trip into the mountain rainforest west of Brisbane, tailoring this to our preference for forest birds. On the day, Kris picked us up at our CBD hotel at the pre-sunrise time we selected and we headed out. Our first stop started off with a bang with several Kookaburras, wompoo doves and bower birds before we even hit the trail. We continued on with Kris picking out the birds by song and identifying them effortlessly on the wing, helping us spot them in the trees and bushes. In addition, and as a big plus, Kris altered the itinerary on the fly after learning that, as first-time visitors to Australia, we were also interested in other native wildlife. He took us down to another spot where he spotted a total of five koalas for us which we wouldn't have been able to spot on our own.  It was amazing to see them in the wild and not just in a zoo. This capped off a wonderful day that included many pademelons in addition to 58 different bird species. It was a long and very full day before Kris dropped us back off again and we enjoyed every minute. I wouldn't hesitate to book Rosella Adventures for any wildlife or birding tour.

I had a short week's stopover in Australia at end of August/beginning of September and, having not previously visited Australia before, I was looking to see as many birds as possible. I had one day free in the Brisbane area and so I had booked Kris at Rosella Adventures for a full day's birding (a friend had recommended him to me). Communication beforehand with Kris was easy and efficient. He'd suggested a three site itinerary to maximise the number of birds that could be seen plus also to target some particularly wanted species. Kris picked me up from my Brisbane hotel early, the van stocked with snacks and drinks for the day. We were at the first site early doors and had a really successful, enjoyable full day out before Kris dropped me back at my hotel that night. As well as being great company, Kris is also a great, knowledgeable birder who also persevered right to the end of the day to help get me my target birds - it was especially pleasing to get, late on in the day, Noisy Pitta and Australian Logrunner, two out of 88 species we'd recorded on our day out, a high proportion of which were new for me. He even helped me out with dinner recommendations for that night, something he didn't have to do but which was really appreciated. I am definitely planning on returning to Australia for a far more exhaustive birding trip and I will have no hesitation in getting in touch with Kris/Rosella Adventures again when I do. A very enjoyable and successful day out. Highly recommend.

Kris came to pick us up in his confortable and very clean mini-van at 6:00AM like planned. We visited two bird sites, which were very well chosen. He patiently showed us the birds on his phone app so we knew what to look for with our binoculars. Could identify the birds by their song easily. All in all, a well-versed ornithologist as well as a very nice man. He hd snacks and water for us. We had a great outing, walking slowly, patiently waiting for the birds to show up.I highly recommend Kris's services because his professionalism as well as his kindness.

During a week-long visit to Brisbane, I made use of Kris’s birding guide services for three full-day outings. Kris proved to be an exceptional guide—responsive, knowledgeable, and impressively skilled in identifying elusive species both visually and by sound. His adaptability and strategic planning led to remarkable success despite seasonal challenges, and netted me seven lifers and a milestone sighting of a White-eared monarch. Kris’s passion and enthusiasm for birding remained evident throughout, adding energy and depth to each outing. From tracking Mangrove honeyeaters by ear to locating a Spotted quail-thrush at dusk just as we were about to call it a day, his persistence and intuition truly elevated the experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to seek out his expert guidance again for future trips across Australia.

Birding with Kris was amazing! The experience was a highlight of my Australia trip. As a novice birder going with experienced friends, I was not quite sure what to expect, but Kris was wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience exciting and enjoyable for everyone. While my group was all adults, I would definitely recommend his tours for families; Kris is as patient and good humored as he is knowledgeable. Snacks were provided and transportation was very clean, safe and comfortable. Best of all, I left Brisbane with a new appreciation for birds, a very long list of every bird that we saw (provided by Kris), as well as amazing bird photos that Kris took along the way as “forever” souvenirs of our morning. I highly recommend his personalized and extremely high value tours!

What a terrific experience! Kris is friendly and very knowledgeable. He was really good at helping us locate the birds and sight them in our binoculars. We had agreed on the itinerary in advance, but he continued to check with us regarding the pace and what we wanted to do as the trip progressed, making sure we were getting the most out of the experience. We would book with him again if we get back to the Brisbane area!
